What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) originated in Japan in the early seventies, came to the United States in 1985 and has experienced rapid growth and evolution since then. Adaptations’ Fresh Feast is a subscription service that provides a secure market for local farmers and provides the customer with farm fresh local food.

Community Supported Agriculture is an exciting alternative food distribution system. By supporting our network of family farms directly, you are securing the agricultural integrity of our island while lowering your carbon footprint and in exchange you are receiving nutritious, locally grown produce. The Philosophy of CSA is more of a relationship than a simple convenience or a give and take of produce for cash; it is based on mutual respect between the customers and the farmers.  Under the CSA model, members pay in advance for the food they will receive, reflecting the risk that farmers take to plant, tend, and harvest crops.  The advance payments helps the farmers tremendously by stabilizing their financial situation and allowing them to concentrate on growing their crops instead of on marketing.

This concept has been sprouting up all over America and is becoming a significant force for developing local economies and improving community health. By purchasing a subscription, you are becoming an essential part of the local food system. Members are exposed to new vegetables and new ways to prepare them. Children often are more willing to try veggies that come in “their” feast – even ones they’ve never been known to eat. You are also encouraging farm experimentation with new crops and increasing variety in our food supply. You are helping Hawaii taste great!

When does it start?

Unlike a traditional CSA, we accept new subscriptions at any time on a rolling basis! Sign up by Wednesday at midnight to receive your box the following Tuesday. If you sign up after Wednesday, your first box will be ready two weeks after initial sign-up. You will receive an email with the date of your first pick-up. 

What can I expect in my CSA?

All our CSAs come in cardboard boxes with minimal packaging which may include compostable bags and brown paper bags. The contents of your box will vary depending on what share you choose.

A basic share gives a family the ingredients for a salad for a week and some fruit. Portions and item variety may vary weekly, but the basic will nearly always include head lettuce & tomatoes and a selection of 4 to 6 items from veggies.

A gourmet share includes all items in the basic and adds 3 or 4 more items.

A custom share includes what you uniquely choose from our online market! If you do not edit your cart in the web-store, you will still receive a box containing a default array of produce valued at 25$. 

What's the difference between a basic/custom?

The main difference between a basic share and a custom share is that the contents of a basic share are predetermined by Adaptations while you choose the contents of a custom share.  A basic share costs $22 while a custom share costs 25$ minimum though there is no maximum cost. 

Can I pay week by week?

No. Unless you are paying with EBT/SNAP, you must preload payments into your account. However, if you decide to cancel your membership you will be refunded the full amount of remaining funds in your account. 

Can I edit my cart after placing my order?

Yes! You can edit your cart as many times as you'd like between Friday at 8 am and Sunday at 8 am. Your most recent confirmation email is accurate. When you edit your cart, you are not making a duplicate order. 

What if I can't pick up my box?

If you cannot pick up your feast, please:

1) Schedule a vacation day by 6 pm on Saturday before the next distribution day via your Farmigo account on the web or contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 808-324-6600.

2) Make arrangements to have someone else pick up your feast.

3) Inform the pickup location that you’ll pick up the next day (not an option at Windermere Realty).  or

4) If no arrangements are made, you will be charged and your feast will be donated to the pickup site.

What if I'm traveling? Can I take a break?

You may put your deliveries on hold at any time. This can be a convenient option if you are planning a vacation or even if your fridge is just a little too full!. Go into your account and enter the date range for your break. You may schedule up to three breaks times at once if you know your schedule in advance. Otherwise, just log in and do this as needed. Schedule a break day by 6 pm on Saturday before the next distribution day via your Farmigo account on the web or contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 808-324-6600. Farmigo will schedule the next delivery day following your return date, based on your schedule choice. If you receive every other week, be aware of how this affects you. 

Can I give you back a box?

If you'd like to recycle your boxes with us, please break down your boxes and store them at home until you have enough flattened boxes to fill a box. Once you have a bundle of boxes, you may return them to your pick up location on a normal delivery date. Mahalo for recycling!
